Rehab Train Perform at The Caversham Golf Club

I have been consulting with Gary and architect Simon Rowe from The Caversham for almost 18 months now on the long-term project of the new clubhouse build. This involved design of the gym and treatment room spaces, equipment choice and how to achieve the best member experience. It’s been great to have this full experience from the beginning to very soon now the opening day on 8th July.

The golf club is very forward thinking, starting with upgrades to the golf course in 2018 and now the massive changes to the clubhouse. The course as an in-land links, with fescue around the new bunkers the wind in play and with this summer's weather hard and fast fairway leading to smooth, lovely paced greens, a great test of the back tees for even the best players. It’s not a surprise the club has drawn attention from new members, visitors and even England Golf with the English Girls Championship being played in July.

Really enjoying my sessions with Ed to support strengthening my upper back to help a shoulder issue and to get stronger for golf. Sessions are diverse, customised and focussed, and exercises are planned and tracked to record weight increases. They also include analysis to test muscle weaknesses to find areas requiring work. I noticed a difference very quickly in my strength, form and body shape. Best of all, I don’t have to put all the gear away. And if you’re lucky you’ll get a massage too if it’s needed.

The Health and Fitness Suite is designed with the members in mind, receiving access free of charge as part of their subscription fee. My work is to create an environment that is friendly and approachable that produces results towards healthier and more active lives for everyone. Members and visitors have access to 1-2-1 care for Sport Rehabilitation and Strength and Conditioning just like at other venues I use. Small group training (SGT) sessions for ladies, seniors, juniors and competitive players will be running on Wednesdays and Fridays every week (timetable to be published soon). These are for the member who wants to improve their health and their golf in a sociable manner with their friends. Individuals will be assessed in movement ability, strength and injury care so you know you are on the right track. A third option is the use of remote training for Caversham members, you’ll receive an assessment day to set benchmarks and find areas for improvement then a training plan is built for you to follow each session, re-testing is then arranged to track progress.

I started training with Ed six months ago. Ed is a great guy who’s personable, easy to talk to making you feel relaxed for those uncomfortable starting the gym but also makes the sessions great fun. Ed has a variety of expertise in conditioning and training but also in Rehab and injury prevention. Therefore, Ed is very accommodating and can tailor a specific program to your needs. Thoroughly enjoy the sessions. Thanks Ed – Frazer – St George’s Hill

The performance pathway I have constructed gives you flexibility in your treatment and training all in one space streamlining your care avoiding time loss away from playing golf and being in pain and repeating yourself to other professionals. With long waiting lists for NHS services now is the time to think about how you can improve and sustain your health all under the same roof at your favourite golf club.
